My anger gets graded as more inappropriate than the act that caused it; the room looks at the anger, the harm disappears from the reckoning, and now the anger is the only thing in question.

I do not remember conversations as summaries, I remember them as recordings, the exact words, the pauses, the order; when the room argues the gist against my recording, we are not remembering the same conversation.

A job interview tests the one skill the job never uses: improvising charm on the spot. It grades me hardest on the part I will never do again, and screens out the people who would have done the real work best.

Everyone else saw a tidy desk. I saw admin rights, a password taped to the monitor, and an unlocked door three steps from the street. The same wiring that exhausts me read the whole breach before I sat down.
